What you type never
leaves your device.

WPM Speed, a Frances Martin Ventures project, calculates your typing results and checks response validity entirely in your browser. The app never uploads your writing or keystroke history.

What stays on your device

Your draft exists only in the page’s memory while you take a test. Numeric edit counts and timestamps are used locally for the calculations. The draft and event history are cleared when a test ends, is interrupted, restarts, or the page is left. V1 does not save them in cookies, local storage, a database, or a service worker.

What you choose to share

Copy Results places only the test duration and numeric results on your clipboard. Share Results passes those same numbers to your browser’s sharing menu, where you choose the destination. Your written text and individual keystroke timestamps are never included.

Site visits

Like other websites, the hosting provider receives ordinary web requests, which can include an IP address, browser information, requested page, and referring page. These requests do not contain your typed text. Advertising is not currently enabled. WPM Speed includes no analytics scripts, advertising scripts, tracking cookies, or score collection.

Your browser and keyboard

Autocorrect, spell correction, capitalization, and normal text replacement are allowed. WPM Speed does not intentionally disable them. The promise above describes what this app does with your writing. Browser extensions, operating-system keyboards, cloud dictation, and other software you install may apply their own privacy practices outside this app’s control. Use a physical keyboard without cloud writing tools if you want to keep those tools out of your writing.
