WPMspeed

Write naturally

Your own words.
A meaningful measure.

Repeating one word, a short phrase, or a held key can produce many characters without much composition. That would make a Freeform WPM score less useful.

What the app checks

Before showing results, WPM Speed checks the response locally for excessive repeated words and short word sequences, very limited variation, repeated characters and character cycles, and insufficient writing. It also considers observed key-hold behavior. Related signals are considered together where practical, so ordinary repeated words in simple writing can still pass.

What the app does not judge

Your response does not have to be clever, interesting, polished, or factually true. Spelling, grammar, intelligence, creativity, and story quality are not scored. You do not need an impressive vocabulary.

If a test is not scored

You will see “Test not scored” and a Try Again button. Respond naturally to the prompt on a fresh attempt. No high score or shareable result is awarded for a clearly repetitive or insufficient response.

Local safeguards, with limits

Pasted and dropped text is blocked. Holding down a physical key adds only its first press. A blocked paste attempt alone does not disqualify otherwise natural writing. The checks use patterns, not a language model; they may miss artificial writing or misread an unusual response. They are not proof of authorship or an assessment for consequential decisions.

Your writing is checked only on your device, then cleared when the attempt ends. Read the privacy details.
